Privacy
Personal information which we collect for a particular purpose will be saved and used for that purpose, unless you have agreed to allow TechMoola to use it for some other stated purpose, as described in this Policy. Except as described in this policy, we will not lease, sell or otherwise use your personal information for a commercial purpose unless approved by you, the user.
When you have provided personal information to us for a particular transaction or purpose (such as making a funding contribution to a project or making a product purchase on the TechStore), we may disclose your information directly to the Inventor or to other companies that we have relationships with to assist us in fulfilling your request. This information may include your name, shipment address, contact telephone number, email address and transaction details to such parties that include but are not limited to, fulfillment houses, billing services, transaction managers, credit verification services, and other third party service providers. TechMoola may also disclose any of your personal information to law enforcement or other appropriate third parties in connection with criminal investigations, investigation of fraud, infringement of intellectual property rights, or other suspected illegal activities, or as otherwise may be required by applicable law, or, as is necessary at our sole discretion, in order to protect the legitimate legal and business and financial interests of TechMoola.
TechMoola can use the information collected from you for the purpose of providing you with technical support, customer service, and account management. TechMoola may also collect information of our site so as to learn what your preferences and tailor your experience of our service and site accordingly as well as to improve the performance and content of our web site and products.
So long as you give your consent, we may also share your personal information with certain marketing partners to present you with potentially relevant products and services that you may be interested in. Additionally, we sometimes share general, demographic, or aggregated (not personal) information with third parties about our user base, but that information does not include any personal information.
In the event that TechMoola undergoes bankruptcy, a merger, is acquired or sells some or all of its assets to another operator or owner, you will be deemed to have consented to the disclosure to, and use by, a subsequent owner or operator of the Sites, of any personal information contained in the TechMoola database for such site
We may also collect information from you related to your performance or use of our Services. As an example, we may share information about your performance, including statistics, scores, or similar accomplishments on a “leader board” or other related posting mechanism that compares your performance (for instance your status as a TechMoover) to other users of TechMoola Services
If you use a credit card to fund a project, no one will have access to your credit card information besides us. PayPal payments are processed separately and their privacy policy can be found by clicking here:
Memberships and Registration
In order for a User to register for our Services, we may require you to provide us with information such as a name, email address, physical home address, state and country of residence, zip/postal code, birth date and gender. Some areas of the Services may allow you to visit as a guest and remain anonymous, but you may not be able to access all the content and features of those areas without registering (for instance, in order to participate in our Site and fund projects additional information, such as your real name and billing information, is required). You may be asked to choose a user or member name and password. Please do not use your real name or the real name of another person when selecting a user name.
We will communicate with you electronically only if you want to hear from us. We will send you electronic mail (email) relating to your personal transactions. We will keep these emails to a minimum so as to not clutter your inbox. You can also receive certain email notifications relating to account or general activity on the site either as an Inventor or TechMoover, for which you may opt-out. We may send you service-related announcements on rare occasions when it is necessary to do so. Inventors who post a project receive the email addresses of their backers at the completion of their project campaign.
Email Newsletters
We will sometimes send promotional or community e-mails to our members and to the general public who want to receive e-mail correspondence from us. You must have an account and have given us your email address and some basic personal information in order to receive such emails. If you want to stop receiving e-mail from us, you can “opt out” by following the unsubscribe instructions listed in each e-mail.
Technology & Security.
TechMoola may obtain and collect IP address information from Site users. We will use this information to monitor and prevent fraud, diagnose problems, and (anonymously) estimate usage and demographic information of TechMoola visitors.
In many cases, TechMoola will automatically collect non-personal information about your use of its Services and browsing activity through the site with cookies and other technology to help anonymously recognize you as a repeat visitor and to track traffic patterns on TechMoola. TechMoola can, although not always, collect information on the type of web browser or computer operating system you are using, your Internet service provider, your “click path” through the Sites, and the web site or advertisement that was linked to or from the Sites when you visited. Your visits to the TechMoola site and use if its Service in addition to information provided through these technologies will be completely anonymous unless it relates to your account activity associated with the Services. (i.e., purchase order history).
All internet browsers allow users to erase and/or disable cookies from your computer’s hard drive, or receive a warning before a cookie is stored. You should refer to your browser instructions or “Help” screen to learn more about how to manage your cookie preferences. As far as use of TechMoola is concerned, blocked cookies will cause some portions of the TechMoola Services to not function properly.
TechMoola does not control nor take responsibility for cookies in third party ads. The ads appearing on our Site and Services may be delivered by third-party advertising companies. These companies may use information regarding your browsing or use of the TechMoola Service/Site as well as other web sites that you visit and browse in order to provide advertisements on TechMoola and other sites about goods and services that might interest you.
We use a variety of security measures to maintain the confidentiality of your personal information. Your personal information is stored behind firewalls and is only accessible by TechMoola staff workers who keep the information confidential.
TechMoola uses a secure server for processing transactions on its site. If you choose the secure server method and your browser supports such operations, all credit card information you supply is transmitted via Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology. PayPal payments are processed under identical security terms.
Regardless of these efforts by us, we cannot guarantee any data transmission over the public Internet to be 100% secure.
Voluntary Disclosure
It should be noted that your TechMoola user name will be visible to the Internet’s general public while you contribute to some Services such as chat rooms, social media plugins or message boards, requiring the appropriate discretion for such public forum Services. Personal information disclosed by on instant messaging, message boards or chat room can be collected by other users of such Services and may result in unsolicited messages. We are not responsible for protecting such information that you choose to disclose to third parties through our Services. To the extent that you create a public profile that may be available to others on our Services and visitors of the Site, you are solely responsible for its content and accuracy at all times.
Inventors
By entering into our User Agreement, TechMoola Inventors agree to not abuse other users’ personal information. Abuse is defined specifically as using personal information for any purpose other than those explicitly detailed in the Inventor’s Project, or is unrelated to fulfilling delivery of a product or service explicitly stated and agreed to in the Inventor’s Project and fundraising campaign or in a TechStore listing.
We emphasize that absolutely no one on the Site, including Inventors or other members/users will ever receive or have access to the credit card information you have provided to TechMoola.
How to access or change provided information
If you would like to modify any personal information previously provided to TechMoola or you no longer want us to use this information, please login to your Service account and follow the instructions for modification or deletion of information relating to your account. Other governing agreements of TechMoola and its Services
User rights and obligations concerning our services are governed by the Terms of Use agreement that is available on the TechMoola website. This is in addition to this privacy policy, the Site’s end user license agreement, other applicable policies, guidelines as well as requirements including those related to third-party websites that are necessary to participate in our Services. When agreeing to sign up and use our Services, you must carefully review each presented agreement and consent to agree to be bound by every such shown agreement before proceeding to use the service.
Information for Users outside of the United States
By agreement with this Policy, you confirm that you have working knowledge of English, enough to understand the terms and conditions set forth herein.
For users from European Union countries, terms such as “personal information” refer to “personal data” as defined by the Directive 95/46/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 24 October 1995 on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data (“Directive”). TechMoola will not collect any personal data from you, the user of the Site and Service, unless you provide it under the terms of this Policy. By using TechMoola Services, you agree that we may transfer your personal information outside the European Union in connection with the purposes stated in this Policy. Your personal data will be transferred to the United States (and/or other non-EU jurisdictions, if applicable).
Notice of changes to the Policy
TechMoola reserves the right to change this Policy at any time by notifying registered users via e-mail as to the adoption of a new Policy. Changes to the policy can also be served via posting the new Policy on the website of the associated Services. All changes to the Policy will be effective as soon as posted. Continued use of the TechMoola Site and any of its Services after the posting will constitute explicit user acceptance of, and agreement to be bound by, those changes to the new Policy.
TechMoola reserves the right to disclose your personally identifiable information in the event that 1) it is required by law 2) in good-faith belief that such action will enable compliance with state and federal laws and 3) when at our discretion, we believe that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights as a company.
People under the age of 18 are not permitted to use TechMoola without parent/guardian permission. Consequently this privacy policy makes no provision for their use of the site or services
